Monday Musings

This week has been interesting to say the least. Due to the fact that we met a woman with a 3 year old that is living in a home with no electricity or running water, I realized how truly blessed we are. We used the money that would have been spent on presents for ourselves and helped this lady with gas, food, clothing and cash. But even at that, I cant help but think of her every time I take a warm shower, use the bathroom, do the dishes, feel the warm forced air heat, wash my face, brush my teeth, turn on a light at night, watch TV, use my computer, look at my Christmas tree and cook my family meals. I wonder how many others are out there. While I am cooking tasty hot meals for my family, I wonder how many families do not have heat or a way to cook food this winter. While I am irritated that the Internet connection is not 100 percent, who is out there without a light to see by? When I am taking a nice warm shower, how many families cannot afford the electricity or gas to heat up the water? While I am tucked warm in bed, how many are trying to stay warm with a piece of newspaper?

Wow, great post. We got a taste of that this year, and we just can't imagine how we can complain about some of the dumbest things when someone out there doesn't have hot water or a way to cook. We get mad that the internet is slow today and someone else has to bring a new baby home to no heat. We are so blessed, and we need to remember that daily, and not only be grateful for what we have but take care of it even better than we did.
God bless,
