Love Sweet Love EditionThe best thing that my husband and I ever did was reading the book "Please Understand Me" by David Keirsey. My hubby and I read this at a pivotal point in our early marriage. We took the tests and figured out that we were opposites, and PERFECT for each other, despite what we thought at the time. I realized it was okay for him to be so loud and want to talk to everybody, and he learned that it was okay for me to be introverted and to want to be alone at times. Plus we learned many other things about ourselves and each other. I believe this book could save marriages! We have been married for 22 1/2 years now!
To make Valentines special for my son (who doesn't want to wait in line at a restaurant) so asked if he could just bring his girlfriend home and if I could cook them dinner. Pretty good for 15 huh! I will light the candles, set the table, cook the food, show them to their table, give them a menu and serve the things they order. Then I will make myself scarce but only far enough that there is no hanky panky. HAHA
I am going to try to make as much food in heart shapes as I can for hubby daughter and son. And of course the usual small gifts and candy. I will have to have a table set in Valentine colors for my daughter because she loves that kinda thing. My daughter's boyfriend is planning something special and wants to talk to me about it. Not sure yet what it is.

Great tip on the book! And also, I agree, it sounds like you have a wonderful day planned. My little sister (who is five years younger than me) would host my dates when I was a teen at Rachel's Restaurant and serve us for special occasions like Valentine's Day with the cooking help of my mom.

Ohh, another great sounding book! I'll have to look for that one in our library. I'm recommending a marraige saving book, too.
Pam, I made 3 colors of hearts, one for each category. I put things about how I love his big hands on my bare back because it makes me feel protected. I appreciated his working at a job he hates to support us, instead of us struggling along so he can enjoy his work. I gave him back rubs, hand rubs, computer time at a game I HATE without complaint, how I love that he does the icky things for me like plunging the toilette, etc. I cleaned out his drawers a month ago and found some of the hearts, still!
In the past I have left notes in his suitcase for him to find, like 10 things I love about you, and 10 things I respect about you. I put them in pants pockets and shaving kits, so he'd get them at different times on his mission trip.
That book really is incredible. And the conferences are great, but if you get the book, the conference isn't necessary. Check out his web page, there are great clips there of his conferences.
I've never heard of that book -- sounds good! And I love all the special little touches you put on the day.
You're such a great mom! Planning special stuff for your kids and their dates! (tho the 'something special' would make me worry!)

That book sounds really good! We had to read something similar before we got married (my husband and I are opposites on personality tests but melding well together). :)
