Works for Me Wednesday

What works for me this week is dryer balls. They are nubby balls that go in your dryer and work like fabric softner without the risks. Did you know that fabric softner sheets clog your vent screen so much that it will hold water? Take your vent screen to the sink and try it. When I tried mine not a drop of water went through. And I have heard that is what wears out dryers the fastest. Good news is all you have to do is scrub it with soap and a soft bristle brush. Rinse and its good as new. I just thought I would take it a step further so I wouldn't have to worry about washing that screen. So Far I love the dryer balls. They are not as hard to keep track of as I thought, and I only had one day of static cling that was easily remedied by putting safety pins on the inside of each pant leg.

Hmn, now I feel like I should go clean my dryer screen! :) I haven't used dryer sheets in a long time, but I imagine the residue is still there. :|

I think I am going to get these. We live in an apt. The dryers are shared, so I don't have much control over the use of dryer sheets, but at a $1 a dryer load, anything that makes the dryer more efficient would work for me!

Gosh, I came for the dryer tip, but if safety pins neutralize static, WOW! THANKS!!!

I have never heard of these...probably not paying attention but I rarely watch TV. This is a good one...now I am off to clean my plugged screen...that is scary!

My husband was using these for a while. They may work as well as dryer sheets (I haven't used those in a long time) but, in my opinion, aren't quite as good as liquid fabric softner.

Also, they seem to wear out after a month or two. Maybe there is some way to "recharge" them that I don't know about?

Amy, I have not used them long enough to find out if they wear out. I was lead to believe they would work for a very long time. My question is does liquid fabric softner clog the vent screen? I will have to test it to find out
